Flow of Language along the Oceans

A few weeks back when i was helping my friend to move out from his appartment...i accidentally said to him "when do u wanna move out the ALMARI". Alamari means Cupboard in Malay....i smiled n said sorry to him coz he is not a malaysian it was dumb of me to use that word to him...but you guys cant blame me as well...coz in that tense of work u cant think what are you saying...i mean work PRESSURE...but he smiled n said dude you are getting better in Speaking Dhivehi. Dhivehi is a national language of the Republic of Maldives...so i told him...i didnt say any dhivehi word...he told "you juz did man"....i asked him back "when did i"....he said "Almari is dhivehi word man, it mean cupboard"...i told him it is not dhivehi man..it is MALAY...he smiled to me sarcastically n said ya rite...i wont blame him coz i m playful guy in any matter so it is hard for someone to believe me...To be sincere even i taught he was JOKING as well but after confronting few of my other Maldivian friends...i found it is true....n i found there are more than one simalirities between the both language...if you guys know
1) hadiah - GIFT
2)jambu - i dunno its name in English but it is a green fruit which is hard to bite...
3)mani - SPERM
all of these words have the same meaning in both language...i wont juz say the simalirity between the both language is juz this 3 words....there might be more but i only this 3 i know...i know simalirity between Spanish and Malay is common coz of the Malaysian History..for an instant Cupboard in Spanish is "ARMARIO"...from my point of view why theese are common because Malaysia was first ruled by the Portuguese which 70% of its language similar to Spanish....i wont juz say malay and dhivehi has simalirities...there might be different language as well....so the point here is...what language are theese words actually...for an example ALMARI...is it a MALAY...is it DHIVEHI....or is it a SPANISH....or is it some other Language...

  3. There's actually a difference in pronunciation. In dhivehi we say "alAmaari"

as for "jambu" it is Rose Apple in english.
    and "Jan'buroalu" is Wax Apple.

And you are right about Mani.
